This week's Funding Bulletin (November 4th - November 8th 2024)

A short summary of funding opportunities that have came to our attention this week.
The British Gas Energy Trust's Individual and Families Debt Write-Off Fund

Individuals and families can apply for grants of up to £2,000 to clear domestic gas and electricity debts. The Individual and Families Debt Write-Off Fund, administered by the British Gas Energy Trust, provides those eligible with a grant to clear outstanding arrears with their energy supplier.



The Ford Britain Trust Large and Small Grants Programme

Registered charities, not-for-profit organisations, and schools/PTAs can apply for grants of up to £3,000 for projects that are of benefit to their local community.

The funding is made available by the Ford Britain Trust to support a range of projects focusing education, environment, children, the disabled, youth activities and projects that provide clear benefits to the local communities.


Funding will support capital projects such as refurbishments, or expenditure on items such as furniture, equipment or computers.

The Woodward Charitable Trust

The Woodward Charitable Trust, a grant-making trust, is one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts. Twice a year it awards grants to UK registered charities with an annual turnover of less than £200,000 who are making ‘a real difference in their communities and who stand out in the work that they do’.


The funding is for charitable organisations in the UK working in the following areas:

  • Children and young people (up to 25 years) who are isolated, at risk of exclusion or involved in antisocial behaviour. This covers gang violence and knife crime, education and mentoring, as well as projects that work to raise self-esteem and employment opportunities and encourage an active involvement in and contribution towards the local community.

  • Disadvantaged families. This covers parenting support and guidance, mental health, food poverty, refuges and domestic violence projects.

  • Prisoners and ex-offenders and specifically projects that maintain and develop contact with prisoners' families and help with the rehabilitation and resettlement of prisoners and/or ex-offenders after their release.

The B&Q Foundation

UK registered charities can apply for funding to deliver projects that improve homes and community spaces for those most in need, such as those experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, poor health, disability, or other disadvantage or distress.

The funding is made available by the B&Q Foundation to decorate, renovate, or create spaces where people can feel at home and have a sense of belonging.

Up to £10,000 is available for building or internal projects, and £5,000 for garden projects.

The Big Give's Green Match Fund

The Green Match Fund, which is a seven-day match funding campaign run by the Big Give in partnership with the Environmental Funders Network, offers non-profit organisations an opportunity to enhance their funding for environmentally-focused projects.


Eligible organisations can apply for grants to support projects that aim to restore, protect, and enhance the natural environment, addressing critical ecological issues such as biodiversity, pollution reduction, and climate resilience. The purpose of this initiative is to enhance the impact of environmental charities by matching public donations, allowing selected organisations to effectively double their fundraising through this match-funding scheme.

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Accelerator Programme

Grants of up to £100,000 are available to develop new products and services that will improve the lives of people affected by dementia in the UK.


The Alzheimer’s Society’s Accelerator Programme supports ‘innovators’ such as engineers, designers, developers, and entrepreneurs to turn their products or services into a reality. This could include a simple product that makes an everyday task easier for a person living with dementia, or an innovative idea for a new service or way of working for care home staff.


Applicants will also receive a year of business support from the Society’s innovation team, as well as being given the opportunity to test their product or service with people affected by dementia.

The Leathersellers' Company's Small Grants Programme

The Leathersellers' Company has announced that its next application round for the Small Grants Programme will reopen for applications on the 2nd December 2024.

This funding is available to small charities and Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs) that provide essential services for vulnerable people in deprived communities across the UK. The Small Grants Programme awards grants of up to £5,000 to organisations with an annual income of less than £200,000.

Partnerships between organisations are encouraged.


The number of applications will be capped, and submissions will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis; specifically, the first 45 applications received after each round opens will be considered.


There are eight application windows throughout the year, and each window will close once 45 applications have been received.

The BGF Foundation's Grants

The BGF Foundation is offering funding and pro bono support to growing charities that support disadvantaged young people across the UK.

The Foundation expects to award four to five grants of £100,000 each, spread over two years, to help these charities grow, build resilience, and increase their impact.

The funding is available to charities with annual incomes between £1 million and £3 million that work to improve life outcomes for disadvantaged young people aged 7 to 30 in the areas of:

  • education

  • employment

  • enterprise

  • mental health

  • physical wellbeing

The National Churches Trust’s Large Grants Programme

Listed and unlisted Christian places of worship needing major, urgent structural repairs can apply for grants of up to £50,000. The funding will cover up to 50% of larger, more complex projects costing over £80,000 incl. VAT. Funding is also available for projects costing more than £30,000 incl. VAT that improve facilities such as kitchens and accessible toilets, etc, to enable increased community use.

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation's Arts Fund

Grants ranging from £90,000 to £300,000 are available to build the capacity of cultural organisations that use art to create positive social change, particularly amongst historically underfunded communities across the UK.


The Arts Fund provides core funding to arts organisations over three years, to increase their sustainability and to deepen the impact of their work. The Foundation will fund up to 50% of an organisation’s annual turnover. To be eligible, organisation's should have a turnover of no less than £60,000 per year.

The 7stars Foundation’s Social Impact Grants Programme

Grants of up to £1,500 are available to charitable organisations supporting challenged and vulnerable young people under 16 in the UK.


The programme will provide funding for projects which support young people living in areas of deprivation and socioeconomic disadvantage who are challenged by abuse or addiction, who are young carers, or who are homeless, as well as projects aligned with selected awareness days, such as Human Rights Day, Race Equality Week, PRIDE Month, or Children’s Mental Health Week.

The Government's Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme

Local authorities in England can apply for funding to provide energy performance and low-carbon heating upgrades to low-income households living in privately owned homes. Upgrades will be tailored to individual homes to ensure the most appropriate measures are installed.


Grants can be used for a variety of improvements, including:

  • Insulation

  • solar panels

  • an air source heat pump if suitable


Cost caps are set at £15,000 per home for energy performance upgrades and £15,000 for low-carbon heating, with the option to average these costs across a project.
