Liverpool City Region's Fair Employment Charter

Here's a quick explanation about the charter, what it means for your organisation and where to read more.

In recent years, with the ongoing increase in employment in the UK, there has been a noticeable change in the priorities of government officials and policymakers. They are no longer solely concerned with the number of jobs in the economy but are also placing a greater emphasis on the standard of work being offered. As a result, there is now a significant emphasis on guaranteeing individuals access to 'Good Work'. This emphasis is being observed across all tiers of government - national, regional, and local.

The Metro Mayor's introduction of the Fair Employment Charter for the Liverpool City Region is a direct response to this. By acknowledging and promoting fair employment practices through this charter, the aim is to not only commend existing exemplary practices but also to raise standards across the board. Through this initiative, the Mayor hopes to inspire other employers to reassess and enhance their own employment practices, fostering a more equitable and supportive work environment across the region. This initiative includes the introduction of a Aspiring Level Accreditation, which looks to acknowledge good practice in employers across the region, with many of our members achieving Aspiring Level status already.
