Cool Communities is looking for any Wirral based groups with project ideas requiring funding which help engage people not usually involved in climate action (i.e. the projects do not have to be strictly climate change related).

What is Cool Communities?
Cool Communities is a partnership between 18 Wirral-based community groups and the Council which aims to empower Wirral residents to address climate change by connecting communities, and driving social change.
Climate Action Fund Bid
The partnership is preparing a bid for the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund: Our Shared Future. The fund seeks projects which will engage those not usually involved in climate action, by focussing on people’s day to day activities, interests, and hobbies. The fund is particularly interested in projects aimed at communities facing poverty, discrimination, and disadvantage.
Cool Communities’ bid will focus on community-based projects that align with Wirral's 2041 net zero strategy, specifically within four thematic areas, that is: 1) clean and lean energy, 2) clean travel, 3) food and waste, and 4) nature.
Opportunity for Involvement
The partnership has two opportunities for involvement for any interested Wirral-based community groups.
If you have any project ideas that can inspire more people into climate action and would like it to be included in the bid, then please fill in the expression of interest form overleaf and submit to coolcommunities@wirral.gov.uk by 4th October.
If you don’t have a project idea, but would like your service users’ to participate in the consultation and project design then please contact coolcommunities@wirral.gov.uk by 3rd September and we can arrange a focus group.
